Raphael Varane agents ready for Man Utd transfer talks after Real Madrid deal rejected

Raphael Varane’s agents hope to meet with Manchester United this week to try and thrash out a move to Old Trafford.

The centre-half, whose contract at Real Madrid has 12 months to run, has rejected a two-year extension, with an option for more, at the Bernabeu.

And that has opened the door to a move to England, with United the main candidates.

The France international, 28, is unhappy that Real have chosen to negotiate with Luka Modric, Lucas Vazquez and Sergio Ramos – who has since left the club – ahead of him.

Real will demand around £50million for the World Cup winner to help finance a bid for either Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland.

Paris Saint-Germain have also sounded out Varane, but he prefers a move to England – looking for a four-year deal.

Real are confident they can survive the loss of Ramos and Varane with David Alaba arriving from Bayern Munich to join Eder Militao, Nacho and Jesus Vallejo at the back.

Brandon Williams to be sent on loan

Manchester United will send left-back Brandon Williams out on loan after a frustrating season.

Williams made just 14 appearances — 11 as a substitute and 22 less than he’d managed in the previous campaign across all competitions.

Southampton tried to take the 20-year-old on loan in the January window but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted to keep him at Old Trafford and blocked the move.

However, the United boss is confident he will have enough cover at left-back next season.

And he feels Williams can only benefit from regular first-team football elsewhere in the Premier League.
