Man Utd attacked by Borussia Dortmund as they respond to Jadon Sancho transfer bid

Manchester United’s bid for Jadon Sancho has been rejected by Borussia Dortmund. And the Red Devils have now been attacked,

with the Bundesliga giants believing they ‘don’t understand how good the player is’. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to land the 21-year-old having missed out in the past already.

Manchester United had initially made Erling Haaland their top target for this summer’s transfer window.

But they’ve now decided to pursue Sancho instead, with Borussia Dortmund open to letting the 21-year-old jump ship.

United have tried to land the England international three times in the past, with interest dating back to Jose Mourinho’s spell at the helm.

And they’re now hoping the 21-year-old will finally make a blockbuster move to Old Trafford, having already lodged two bids since the transfer window reopened.

Journalist Patrick Berger, however, has claimed United’s newest offer has been turned down.

And it’s also claimed Dortmund feel the Red Devils ‘don’t understand how good Sancho is’, suggesting the Bundesliga side aren’t happy with how negotiations are going.

But it’s still not satisfactory for #BVB. In Dortmund they think that #MUFC don’t know how good Sancho really is.”

United dragged their feet through negotiations for Sancho 12 months ago, believing Dortmund would eventually cave in and accept a lower fee for their No 7.

But they were mistaken and, late in the day, decided to sign Edinson Cavani on a free transfer from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain instead.

While United are determined to sign Sancho, however, Gary Neville recently expressed a belief he wouldn’t be needed if the club see Mason Greenwood as a right winger for the long term.

“They definitely need a centre-back to go with Harry Maguire. Although I think the back four has done well, I think the defence has done well but they’re at an absolute maximum where they are”, he recently said.

“I think Aaron Wan-Bissaka is improving weekly and is getting better.

“I think if Luke Shaw can stay fit he’s the best and always has been in terms of talent.

“With Harry Maguire they’ve got someone who is incredibly reliable and can lead the team, I just think that another centre back comes in and completes that back four.

“It’s a risk because I think Maguire and Lindelof work really well but it’s a risk you have to take to get to the next level.

If you look at Dias, Van Dijk, Harry Maguire they’re kingpins in the centre of defence but they all have good partners as well, and I think United need another one in there.”

He then added: “Up front is an issue.

“Over the last few years, we’ve never had a fixed right-winger, I think left’s okay with Marcus Rashford. You could argue is Mason Greenwood a right-winger?

“That’s the question is he a right winger or is he a centre forward? If he’s a centre-forward in the long term, Manchester United need a right-winger.

“If Mason Greenwood is a right-winger, they need a centre-forward.”
