The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell has reported that Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho bid has been rejected by Borussia Dortmund;
Jadon Sancho Bid Rejected
Dortmund remain open to allowing Sancho to leave the club this summer but the bid from United is said to be around £10 million away from the price the Bundesliga side want for the young England player.
Although the bid is not enough to get the player United want, it is also not seen as being too far away for it not to be overcome with negotiations between the two clubs ongoing.
Manchester United would prefer the deal to include add ons but Dortmund are said to remain nervous of this and would want cast iron guarantees of these payments if they’ve are to accept any further offers.
United want to spread the cost of the purchase in instalments and Dortmund are open to to this depending on the length of time involved.
12 Months of Chasing Sancho
Manchester United first expressed interest in Sancho 12 months ago but no deal was able to be done.
Now Dortmund are aware that the player would like to move to the Premier League and show what he can do there after not getting the chances at Manchester City.
Dortmund are known to be happy to allow young talent they developed to leave as long as they can get the price that they want and it is a stance that raises eyebrows but should also be commended.
There is no doubt that Manchester United will return with a new and improved bid for Sancho and he remains the cnumber one target ahead of the 2021/22 Premier League season.
The initial rebuffal from Dortmund will not put United off and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to ensure he gets the player he sees as being a huge part of his attempts to return Old Trafford to being a place where silverware is guaranteed season after season.
