Chelsea fans have urged their club to make a late bid for Jadon Sancho after he confessed he was a Blues fan.
The Borussia Dortmund star was born in Camberwell and grew up supporting the west Londoners, citing Frank Lampard as one of his favourite players.
Sancho is currently with the England squad ahead of their Euro 2020 opener against Croatia on Sunday.
But at club level his current employers are rejecting a bid from Manchester United, who want to sign the forward.
The Red Devils made moves to sign Sancho last summer but were unable to agree a fee with the German side.
Chelsea have been loosely linked with the 21-year-old and he didn’t hide his allegiances when question on his England idols.
He said: “I’d probably say Frank Lampard, I was a Chelsea fan growing up, I can’t lie!
“Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard were my favourite players at the time.
His comments have certainly got Chelsea fans excited and they want their club to use their current status as a pull in negotiations.
One said: ” @ChelseaFC can we hijack the deal”
“Sancho indirectly wants to join champions of Europe,” suggested another.
“Looks like someone is flirting with the champions of Europe,” added a third.
