The summer transfer window swings into action on Wednesday and Chelsea are expected to make moves to build on the early success that has been delivered by Thomas Tuchel.
Chelsea will be looking to progress on their sensational Champions League success in May with Tuchel at the helm, beating Man City 1-0 in the final in Porto to secure a second European crown in nine years.
There isn’t much need for wholesale changes to the Blues squad but head coach Tuchel will be looking to make his own mark on it,
having inherited the players from Frank Lampard when he was parachuted into rescue the season in late January.
Tuchel’s switch to a five-man defence and his preferred “double six” in midfield worked wonders.
While goalscoring was a bit of an issue, Chelsea’s defensive record under Tuchel was immense and meant that quite often, one or two goals was always enough.
It’s that goalscoring department that Tuchel is expected to focus heavily on this summer, with the Blues chasing a new frontman despite the arrival of Timo Werner this time last year.
Olivier Giroud has signed a one-year contract extension but whether he is still at the club at the start of the new season remains to be seen.
Chelsea have been linked with big-money moves for Erling Haaland and Romelu Lukaku in a bid to solve their goal scoring issue,
while the club is reportedly looking at bolstering at right back with a move for Inter’s Achraf Hakimi.
